Are you strong enough to work at home? This may sound like a strange question but it is something you should find out about yourself before you decide to do it.

The reason you need to be strong is because if you aren't then you will not start to work at an early hour and you will tend to take breaks during the day to do little tasks that will get out of hand and you will neglect your business.

One of the key factors in having a home business is to be able to discipline yourself to set work hours for yourself and to keep them.

Getting up at 10:00 a.m. and having a coffee and then sitting down at your desk to read your e-mails is not discipline enough to carry on a business. You need to treat your home business as if you had to go to the office. You need to be strong enough to do it and to keep on a proper schedule no matter what might "look" like it needs to be done around the house.

I agree. In order to be successful at working from home you must be disciplined and organized. Just because you work from home does not mean that you can just slough off. Treat this as if you were actually going into a real office. I know a couple people who thought working from home would be the answer to their prayers when in fact they were too distracted and not very productive.

On the flip side... you've also got to be strong enough to STOP working and enjoy life! That's my challenge.

Great points on both sides. I have my office in my basement, and unfortunately, my kids and wife sometimes do not understand that when the door is closed, daddy is working. I can't afford an office, but the distractions are sometimes too much.
