What are some of the best ways to motivate your employees? I am in a customer service position and top stats gets a 20.00 gift card to the store of their choice. It works well. Plus there are monthly bonuses for employees that don't miss a day. Any other suggestions, or what does your office do?

Is $20 really enough to motivate someone?

When I worked for a local insurance company, they gave out quarterly bonuses. It was based on your performance and peer review. It motivated me to be a team player because 50% of your bonus is based on what your peers wrote about you. My bonuses averaged about $900 to $1200 a quarter.

When I was a district Sales Manager for Avon I motivated the representatives by treating them like people and thanking them for a job well done.I also showed them that I wasn't afraid to roll up my sleeves to help them achieve their goals and in that way they realized that I was really helping their business. I also answered their questions immediately and they knew they could ask me anything at anytime because I always had time for them. In this way you are helping them and your business at the same time. I think that you might want to up the $20 gift certificate to $50 once a month. With $50 they can actually buy something nice for themselves.
