Bosses Who Take Advantage
General talk about office stuff rowena105 from Anywhere You Want -
When the boss sees that you can do more than your share or even something else in the office they will take advantage of that. One office I worked in I made the mistake of letting it be known that I knew about IT. So from that point on whenever there was an IT problem they would shout for me instead of calling in the outside firm that they had to do IT. However, I was also expected to do my work at by the end of the day as well. So I told them after a while that it was not fair of them to keep calling on me. I found out they had been saving about $4, 000.00 a year because of me and I demanded a raise in order to compensate me for doing this. They refused so I stopped doing it and they didn't like that. Too bad!!! I wasn't going to work overtime 2-3 hours a day because I had been busy teaching them something or fixing something to do with the computers. Have you ever had that and how did you handle it?

Oh yes I definitely have been in that spot too. It took me a while to realize that the company was saving money by my doing it but when I did I started to charge for overtime. They didn't like that much at all cause they said that the overtime had to be charged to a client and since it was general work for the client they couldn't realistically charge him extra. So I said okay then you can charge it to the office, I do not care. It is your choice. Either I just stick to my own work or if you want me to work for others as well as my own then you will have to pay me overtime. They stopped asking me to do work for other people.
