Verbally Abusive Bosses

I worked in an office where one of the lawyers was constantly verbally abusive to his secretary and she would do one of two things. She would either give it right back to him or leave in tears.

Either way it was so disruptive to the office that everyone hated being around them.

Unfortunately for me I had to work in a cubical right beside her and his office was right in front of her and they would scream at each other from morning till night.

One day he tried it on me and I stood up to him by telling him he had no business yelling at anyone and if he tried it again with me I would charge him with verbal abuse.

Another lawyer came to me and said I shouldn't have done that.

You had every right to stand up for yourself and your co-worker. Too many of these "higher up" people need to get off their high horse and quit with their verbal abuse. Nobody deserves that. I don't care who you are.
