Yes, exactly. A UPS with a battery in poor condition is probably worse than no UPS at all.If you have no UPS you don't expect any protection. If your battery is weak, you might believe you have suitable protection when you actually have none!

Oh my heavens. So just having the computer plugged into a surge protector isn't sufficient? Do you have a recommendation on type of device? How much do you have to spend?
