Ps: I have purchased many different brands and models of sharpeneres and they do not last! I guess I draw too much.

I am also looking for a similar plastic gear for the Boston Model 17. This is probably the same or similar gear as used in the Model 18. Anyone out there having this part for sale contact me using karneyjl at scbglobal.net

I contacted Elmers Co. which is now the owner of the rights and patent to the Hunt Mfg Co (Boston) pencil sharpener located in Statesville, NC. Hunt was bought out by Elmers Glue.
Their customer service says there is no parts, especially the large gear for the Model 17, 18, 24 and 41 available.
They said there was an aftermarket mfgr. that has stopped making the gear. Call them and get the story at 800-879-4868
