I'm looking for information on ordering a new cutter for an electric pencil sharperner Boston #1670. The number on the cutter part is #1674.

I just got a part for a Boston Sharpener from Elmer's Consumer Response (they just bought Hunt Mfg CO, that makes Boston, and they make X-acto, too).

I have a Boston Electric Sharpener, 296A, model #16. I need a new cutter for it, and am unable to trace one anywhere. It is old, probably 20 years, but I am very attached to it and would be very sorry to have to dispose of it.I see that Gina has very kindly left a telephone number, but since I live in England this is very little help to me. I contacted Elmers Co. which is now the owner of the rights and patent to the Hunt Mfg Co (Boston) pencil sharpener located in Statesville, NC. Hunt was bought out by Elmers Glue.

Their customer service says there is no parts, especially the large gear for the Model 17, 18, 24 and 41 available.

They said there was an aftermarket mfgr. that has stopped making the gear. Call them and get the story at 800-879-4868
